Wholesale Hair Extensions Pricing: How MOQ and Lengths Affect Your Quote

Why Every Quote Is Different

Two suppliers can quote the same product and land far apart on price. The difference is usually not negotiation - it is specification. Hair extension cost is driven by grade, length, processing and quantity, and a quote is only comparable when all four are matched.

The Five Factors That Move the Price

  • Grade (3A-6A / 7A): single-donor cuticle-aligned hair holds a cut and lasts longest, so it sits at the top of the range. Remy and lower grades are the volume tier.
  • Length: longer hair means longer donor hair, more sorting and more yield loss. Above 24 inch the price curve steepens noticeably.
  • Processing: unprocessed virgin hair costs more per kilo but gives you full dye and bleach flexibility. Pre-coloured or pre-styled hair is cheaper and faster to sell - useful for you, less for the stylist.
  • Texture and construction: straight wefts are the cheapest per kilo; curl, wave and pre-bonded work (I/U/V tip, micro loop, keratin) add labour, so they cost more per piece but command higher retail margins.
  • MOQ: larger orders spread the same fixed costs - sorting, packaging, QC - across more units, so unit price falls.

How MOQ Works in Practice

Factories set a floor because each colour and texture batch has a setup cost. A realistic structure looks like this: sampling quantities for development and photo shoots, a small first order across 3-5 core shades and textures, then a scaled reorder on the winning SKUs. At RAYLI HAIR, MOQ is set per product and mixed orders across several SKUs are usually possible - so you can test a broad range without ordering deep stock on every reference.

How to Structure a Quote Request

The fastest accurate quote comes with six specifics:

  1. Product type - clip-in, tape-in, weft, I/U/V tip, micro loop, lace wig.
  2. Grade and source - virgin, single donor, remy, or a price-band you want to hit.
  3. Length in inches and colour codes from the shade ring.
  4. Texture - straight, body wave, loose wave, deep wave, curly.
  5. Quantity per SKU, plus total order value if you want a tier discount.
  6. Packaging - standard bulk, or your own OEM label and colour ring.

Send this as a table and you will usually receive a per-SKU price, an indicative lead time and the exact MOQ in one round.

Beyond Unit Price

Unit price is only part of the landed cost. Compare suppliers on freight terms (FOB, EXW, CIF), carton dimensions and weight (air freight is priced by volume), payment terms, and the real return rate. A slightly higher unit price with consistent grade and reliable QC often delivers a lower cost per sellable unit than the cheapest quote on paper.

Before you compare prices: most quotes that look 30% cheaper have removed the draw ratio or the cuticle alignment, and neither appears on an invoice.
