How to Order Hair Extensions from a Factory: A Practical Buyer's Checklist

Why Buyers Get Burned on the First Order

Most hair extension problems are not quality problems - they are specification problems. Two buyers order "brown bundles" and receive completely different products, because one meant #3 and the other meant #27, one meant single-donor and the other meant non-remy, and one meant 14 inches while the other meant 18. This guide gives you the exact questions and specifications to lock down before money moves.

Step 1: Specify the Product Precisely

A usable purchase order states, for every SKU: colour code and name, hair grade (remy or virgin, double-drawn or not), texture (straight, body wave, deep wave, curly), length in inches, weight per piece or per strand, and installation type. Our colour range runs from jet black and natural black through chocolate, honey and golden blonde - you can see the full board in our 100% virgin hair weave catalogue, and the top grade virgin Brazilian hair weft is our premium line.

Step 2: Always Order a Sample First

  • One sample per colour family you plan to sell, not one sample for the whole range.
  • Test the cuticle: run fingers from root to tip. Hair with a smooth cuticle will not tangle; hair with a raised cuticle will knot in half the wear time.
  • Count the weft rows: a double-layer reinforced weft holds far better and is what we specify on our 100% human hair machine hair weft.
  • Check the hairline: no shedding when you comb. A handful of hair in the comb is not normal.
  • Weigh the piece: put the bundle on a scale. A 100 g bundle that feels heavy is often 80 g of hair plus packaging.

Step 3: Ask These Questions Before You Pay

  • What is the MOQ per colour, and per size?
  • Can I mix colours in one order, and what is the mix MOQ?
  • What is the production lead time after sample approval?
  • Is the hair single-donor, and can you show the cuticle alignment?
  • Can the length be cut to my specification at no extra cost?
  • What is the payment terms, and is a deposit refundable after inspection?
  • Can I ship a third-party inspection, and who pays if it fails?

Step 4: Understand Weight, Density and Reality

A weave bundle is typically 100 g; a full head of weave usually needs three to four pieces plus a closure or a human hair weft for the closure area. For loose bundle retail, our silky straight natural black weaving and the unprocessed 5A remy Brazilian body wave are the two workhorses. If a supplier quotes a price per bundle far below the market, ask about the hair weight and grade before you assume it is a bargain.

Step 5: Plan the Re-Order Cycle

Set your re-order point as a formula, not a feeling: (average monthly sales x 45 days of cover) minus stock on hand. For salons, restock clip-in lines more often and pre-bonded lines less often, since pre-bonded clients return for the same colour and length. Track which SKUs move by colour, and keep the fast movers in your own colour board so a re-order is a phone call, not a negotiation.

Step 6: Build the Private Label Layer

Once the product is proven, add packaging. A private label run can include your logo on the box, a branded colour ring, a satin pouch, a barcode, and a card with wash and care instructions. Our natural black body wave weft and deep curly 100% virgin machine hair are both produced for private label programmes.
